I have been writing on and off on topics ranging from performing arts to technology. I have written for periodicals, journals, newspapers and search engine optimisation content too.
Why have I done all this too has many reasons. It all started way back in early 90's for academic reasons. I had to submit articles for my journalism assignments in graduation class. I started writing for 'collegeu ranga' youth section of Kannada Prabha (a famous Kannada daily run by the Goenka group). This was my first shot at professional writing. Post that I even served as reporter for The Hindu (the famous south Indian daily run by the Kasturi group).
By this time I had realised that my fantasies of journalistic writing being the fourth estate was shattered. I was told in The Hindu by my chief editor that I should not use 'is' but have to use 'was' since it was the style of the paper. I remember while writing a review for a play on Ambedkar, I had trashed out the poor production qualities for which there was a huge protest in front of Times of India office. So many things forced me to concentrate on writing for myself and money rather than passion and profession. My intention of starting this blog too was for the same 'myself' than anything else.
I have not made lots of money as a writer but definitely have made a mark for myself, people now do believe that I can write. My last professional effort at writing was the script for Hosabelaku a play created by me & Chandan, an old associate of mine. This time I had an objective of promoting new audiences for theatre by making a contemporary play out of a superhit Dr. Rajkumar movie.
Now I just realised I have gone too far away from the topic of this blog.
The following are the reasons for Blogging to be the best form of writing...
1. No pre set deadlines
2. No payment & hence no pressures
3. No particular word limit
4. No boss or client to correct and point out mistakes
5. No word or style or theme limitations
6. You can blog from anyplace any-time
7. Real time publishing
8. I becomes more important than we, they or that
9. Blogs stay for ever & can reach wider audiences than any other print mediaplus has the ability to suit every target reader possible
10. I can blog from my cell phone, giving me the most flexible form of writing (I can correct the spellings too)
I hope with so many reasons to choose, I should be writing more. After all writing is my second love after acting :)
totallly agreee with all of the points :))
