DID WE BELIEVE THIS?

There was a time when computer buffs and professionals were a rarity.  A handful IT professionals were operating through their corporate cool offices and were as inaccessible as Gods.  That was the time when I first learnt what a web page is all about and how it works for you 365/24.  I am sure if I would have gone to a corporate with such an advertisement proposal 15 years back they would have personally seen to it that I am kicked out of their facility, on second thoughts their locality!!

With very less work and maintenance web pages were a dream come true to put across my crazy ideas to the world.  More over it was cheap and the reach was extraordinary.  With my introduction to the subject and the technicalities of a web space and storage space etc. was the time I realised that to get a web space which you will have to buy from US or Canada you will have to pay US$ 20 - 30.  That was when my random thoughts of communicating through a web page came to a full stop.

Crazy was the word those days when people were minting money with the new dot com bubble blowing out of proportion.  Ordinary news paper reporters without any flair or style started being paid in phenomenal quantities. Those who used to have tea in Kaka shop just moved up to Windsor Manor!!

This was the time when I also got few offers to join portal's editorial team.  But my schedule and lifestyle was some what conservative and were a big block for me to take this giant step toward being a online architect!!

That was the time when my surfing and chatting over the net was touching its all time peak.  I used to chat and meet people who used to boast about their web pages and gave me ideas how to have one free.  But the free web page providers were not too appealing specially with their name attached to all the web page names (example www.xyz.yourname.com or geocities or yahoo etc). I did try these but was not satisfying to advertise the free web page providers name with my name!!  Yes it was kind of professional clash you see!!

I finally heard of a web page where you can link your www.xyz.yourname.com web page on another service provider where you get exclusive domain name!! Yes it was unbelievable and a dream come true to have my own name as a domain name!! I felt great and immediately registered www.sathishchandra.com and was as happy as a lady who just got diamond necklace as her birthday gift!!

But even this was short lived and the ideas given to me of linking never worked.  The long wait gave way to this desire of having my own name as a domain.  But it opened up many avenues and many by-lines in major news papers and I still remember a front page ET article where my adventures with online dating was published!!

Now after understanding the true essence of a web page and what it could do it is a part and parcel of my daily life.  The desire to have my own web page is not yet dead now the latest fad of my life is to create and upload my own web page.  Yes it is really amazing when you realise the potential a

good web designer has in the current IT driven industry.  So I shall be selling my services after I show them what I can do on...yes you guessed it right the one of its kind web page www.sathishchandra.com (don't bother logging in this is still a paper tiger!!)

ಸಂಚಾರಿ ವಿಜಯ್ ಸಂಸ್ಮರಣಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ, ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರೋತ್ಸವ, ನಾಟಕೋತ್ಸವ ಸೆಪ್ಟಂಬರ್ 29, 30 ಮತ್ತು ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 1, 2022 ರಂದು ಕುವೆಂಪು ಕಲಾಮಂದಿರ ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಿತ್ತು, ಆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾದ ಸ್ಮ್ರತಿ ಸರಣಿಗಾಗಿ ಬರೆದ ಲೇಖನ. ಸಂವಿ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ಪಾಠಗಳು ಸಂವಿ ಅಂದರೆ ಸಂವಿಧಾನ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಅದು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಚಾರಿ ವಿಜಯ್ಗೆ ನಾನು ಇಟ್ಟ ಹೆಸರು. ಸಂವಿ ವಿಧಾನಗಳು ಬಲು ಅಪರೂಪ. ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯ ಒಡನಾಟ ಬಲು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಎನ್ನಬಹುದು ಕೆಲವೇ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಪರಿಚಯವಾದರೂ ಬಾಲ್ಯ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತ ಅನ್ನೋ ಅಷ್ಟು ಆಪ್ತ. ನಮ್ಮ ಜೊತೆ ನಮ್ಮವನಾಗಿ ಇರೋ ಈ ವಿಜಯ್ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಮಾದರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ.  ನಮ್ಮ ತಂಡದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ನಾಟಕ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಸಾರ್ ನನಗೆ culture shock ಆಗಿದೆ ಅಂದ. ಏಕೆ ಎಂದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ನಾಟಕದ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ ನಾಟಕ ಸ್ಟೇಜ್ ಮೇಲೆ ತರೋದು ಒಂದೇ ಅಲ್ಲ, ರಿಹರ್ಸಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯೋ ಫೈನ್ ಕಲೆಕ್ಷನ್ ಮತ್ತೆ ಬೊಂಡಾ ಬಜ್ಜಿಗಳು, ಕಾಸ್ಟ್ ಪಾರ್ಟಿಗಳು, ರಸ ಸಂಜೆಗಳು, ಇದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಏನ್ ಸಾರ್ ಅಂತ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯದಿಂದ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ.  ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಒಂದೇ ತರಹ, ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಒಂದೇ ತರಹ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸಂವಿ ನಮಗೆ ಕಲಿಸಿದ ಮೊದಲ ಪಾಠ. ಕಲಾ ಸೌಧದ ಹೊರಗಿನ ಪೌರಕಾರ್ಮಿಕರಿಂದ, ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಪಟ್ಟೆ ಫೇಮಸ್ ಆದ ನಟರಜೊತೆ ಅದೇ ಆದರ, ವಿನಯದಿಂದ ಮಾತಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಯಾರದ್ದೋ ಜೊತೆ ಜಗಳ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದಲೋ ಬಂದ ಅಜಾತ ಶತ್ರು ಸಂವಿ ಇಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ಸಮಾಧಾನ ...

I The Revenant!! (I live to tell the tale)

I really have no idea what to title this, tryst with destiny, final minutes, death at doorstep, light after darkness, reincarnation, second life, how I cheated death, My Life = 1300 Rs, I The Revenant, Sea rescue... But I am sure why I am writing this, I do not want to forget anything which happened on this day. It was early hours of Sunday, December 18, 2016, day after we had Mahpeede Mahablu show in Baindur.  We wanted to go to the beach till sun rises, come back get ready and leave to Bangalore at any cost before 10 AM after breakfast at 9 AM.  So we slept late, since we were in the same beach till 11 PM.  We went in at around 6.30 AM and tried to get into the sea at point 2 in the image below.  Later we realised that the current here is too much of the Sumana or Baindur river, force of the river was enough to make the sea water less salty.  This is clear sign that the current is super strong.  Looking for a suitable location, we moved to location...

My Article on Kannada Theatre Scene

Kannada Theatre Scene Ninth Century AD: King Nrupatunga wrote Kavirajamarga in the matured script of Kannada. It is the first recognised literary work by any author in Kannada history. Being a set of poems it was recited to people at numerous literary gatherings. Hence, we could also categorise it as the first script in Kannada literature.
